I WAS SCARED AS HELL when the cruise ship started tilting…..
I was sitting with a group of Prince fans with my client Kim Berry Prince’s friend and hair stylist. As we were sitting there listening to Princes’ final concert some with eyes closed picturing prince at the piano. All of a sudden the ship started to tilt. It tilted a little. No problem. But it continued to tilt and I began to panic.
Looking out of the window it was shocking to see the angle of the ship. The ship continued to tilt furniture begin to slide and I heard people started screaming as if the ship was about to sink. At the time I told Kim “let go”. As we started to quickly leave the group water was running out of the pool. I almoste panicked. But instead I grabbed Kim and get on the other side of the ship.
Before we could get to the other side of the ship it began to level out. The hysteria began to subside and everything was back to normal. Or at least as far as the ship was concerned. I was frazzled and I’m sure I wasn’t alone. Kim and I went to the cabin grabbed some books to give away and rejoined the group to give away the books and left.
I don’t know if you’ve ever experienced that before on a cruise ship but you have to wonder if the ship is sinking and the inevitable has come. Thank God that wasn’t the case. But it did cross my mind.
That experience is much like other things in life.
You’re enjoying life. Making the most of the opportunity and all of a sudden. Life unexpectedly happens and it begins to tilt. Something totally out of your control. The natural thing to do is to panic but not the best thing to do. I’ve learned in life that thinking is always the best choice to make no matter the circumstance.
Your life might be tilting like that cruise ship. But don’t panic. Instead out think the situation. I know it’s easier said than done. Your mind has to be trained to think and think fast. You can’t do that during the situation. It requires planning and mind training.
