My 80 yr. Old Mom Had To Have Surgery
I wake up earlier every morning for prayer and start my regular routine of reading and writing out my 10X goals. But this morning was different. I had to meet my mom at her house to take her for surgery.
At 80 yrs. old any surgery is a very serious procedure.
I must tell you, my mom has a dominant personality and is a proud woman. She grew up in LaPlace La, a little country town outside of New Orleans, during segregation. She was taught to be independent and age isn’t stopping her from being that way today.
I pull up in front the house. Get out the car and let myself in to see if she needed help to the car. Dressed and ready to go all she had to do was grab her stuff. Living alone in a two story house she has everything she needs downstairs. She grabbed her things and we walked out the door.
We had a short drive to where she was having her surgery. We got there earlier for the check in procedure. As we waited to be called to the back she told me that she wanted to get her cataracts removed from her eyes before the end of the year.
I wondered why before the end of the year? Why not wait? As I thought about it more it was only characteristic of my mother not to wait to get things done. And what better time than before the new year.
As I contemplated on it deeper there was lessen in it for me. As with our parents and grandparents their life is full of wisdom if we just took the time and reflect.
The lesson is don’t go into the new year with blurred vision. If you know things don’t appear as they should and you can do something about it why wouldn’t you?
So I’m sharing this lesson with you.
Is your sight as clear as it can be? What are you doing to clear your vision for the New Year?
Doing something is always better than doing nothing. Even if it’s not the correct choice. Because now you know what not to do and you’re closer to doing the right thing.
Let me share something with you that I know will help clear some things up for you. Because they did for me.
What friend will have something that made a different in their life and not share it with you? Not a friend!
P.S.: The surgery was a success. Now my mom has clear vision for 2019.
